2016 Feeding America Volunteering

“Founded in 2007, Feeding America San Diego is the leading hunger-relief organization in the county, distributing healthy food with dignity to San Diego residents struggling with hunger. The non-profit organization, funded by philanthropic and community support, is devoted to feeding the hungry, advocacy and education. FASD is committed to solving hunger in our communities and informing the public on the issues of food insecurity, nutrition and poverty. We fight hunger locally by working hand-in-hand with partner agencies, local school districts, corporate partners and a network of volunteers to serve 60,000 children, families and seniors in need each week.”

On August 27th, 16 members of the YCC went to the Feeding America San Diego to help sort food for the less fortunate. Many things were accomplished with their hard work as they sorted through apples, pears, plums, and potatoes. It was already crowded when they arrived but they all had an enjoyable time working with everyone there.
If you would like to volunteer the next time that the YCC goes to Feeding America, be sure to join our Facebook group (under the Contact Us page under the About Us tab on our website) so you can receive updates about it!
